Saudi-Arabien bombardiert offenbar Schulen und Krankenhäuser
Mehr als ein Drittel der Luftangriffe Saudi-Arabiens im Jemen treffen dem Guardian zufolge zivile Einrichtung wie Schulen, Krankenhäuser und Moscheen. Das berichtet die britische Zeitung unter Berufung auf eine neue Studie des Yemen Data Project, einer Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern und Menschenrechtlern. Seit März 2015 zählt die Studie insgesamt 8.600 saudische Luftschläge. 3.158 Angriffe davon trafen demnach nichtmilitärische Einrichtungen, lediglich in 3.577 Fällen könne mit Sicherheit von militärischen Zielen ausgegangen werden. Nach Angaben der Vereinten Nationen wurden seit Beginn der Luftangriffe mehr als 10.000 Menschen getötet, unter ihnen 3.799 Zivilisten….

Innenminister Thomas Strobl (CDU) hat Israel als Ziel seiner ersten Auslandsreise gewählt. Von Montag bis Donnerstag besucht er Jerusalem und Tel Aviv. Er wird von einer Delegation aus Abgeordneten und Vertretern von Verbänden begleitet. Strobl will mit seiner Visite Israel als einzige Demokratie in der Region würdigen und seine Verbundenheit mit den in Deutschland lebenden Juden demonstrieren. Der Vize-Regierungschef will unter anderem Israels Staatspräsidenten Reuven Rivlin treffen….

Diese tonale, fleischige Orchestermusik ist man von Chaya Czernowin gar nicht gewohnt. Eigentlich kennt man von ihr eher geräuschhafte, fragile, flächige Klanggewebe, die all das zum Klingen bringen, was sich unserer Aufmerksamkeit entzieht. Tatsächlich ist das Stück „At the fringe of our gaze“ von 2013 eine Ausnahme, denn es stellt eine Art Initiation dar. Czernowin hat es im Auftrag von Daniel Barenboims West-Eastern Divan Orchestra geschrieben, ein Klangkörper aus jungen Musikern aus Israel und den arabischen Nachbarländern, das meist Beethoven, Tschaikowsky, Rimsky-Korsakow oder andere klassische Meister spielt….

Bei der Eröffnung reichten die Sitzplätze nicht aus. Mit über 1000 Teilnehmern war der unter hohen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen stattfindende Kongress des Jüdischen Nationalfonds JNF-KKL sehr gut besucht und die Kulisse imposant: Der zweite große Umweltkongress des JNF-KKL fand in der traditionsreichen, 1864 eingeweihten Kölner Flora statt. KKL-Präsidentin Sarah Singer konnte aus gegebenem Anlass unter anderem Israels Botschafter Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, Zentralratsvizepräsident Abraham Lehrer und Bild-Herausgeber Kai Diekmann begrüßen. Das Tagungsthema war ambitioniert: »Koexistenz in Israel«. Dass ein multikulturelles Miteinander möglich ist, beweist gerade Israel mit seinem Bevölkerungsanteil von 20 Prozent Arabern, Drusen und Beduinen tagtäglich und überzeugend, trotz aller Schwierigkeiten. Und auch der Termin dieser Tagung, der 11. September, der Jahrestag der Anschläge auf das World Trade Center in New York, war bewusst gewählt worden, wie die Deutschland-Vorsitzende des JNF, Sarah Singer, betonte….

Palästinenser verletzt israelische Polizisten schwer
Eine neue Anschlagserie in Israel reißt nicht ab. Ein Palästinenser stach heute in Jerusalems Altstadt mit einem Messer mehrmals auf zwei israelische Polizisten ein, wie eine Polizeisprecherin mitteilte. Die Beamten – laut Medienberichten ein Mann und eine Frau – seien schwer verletzt ins Krankenhaus gebracht worden. Der Angreifer sei außer Gefecht gesetzt worden. Er habe bei dem Vorfall am Herodestor zur Altstadt lebensgefährliche Verletzungen erlitten, berichteten israelische Medien….

Je mehr die Migranten integriert sind, umso weniger sind sie anfällig für Extremismus. Das hat der Knesset -Sprecher Juli Edelstein am Donnerstag bei der „Europäischen Konferenz der Parlamentspräsidenten“ in Straßburg betont. „Wir müssen in Erwägung ziehen, dass die meisten Migranten, wie in Israel, mit der Hoffnung auf ein besseres Leben ankommen.“ Edelstein merkte an, er selbst sei vor 29 Jahren aus der Ukraine nach Israel gekommen. Er sei einer der letzten Dissidenten gewesen, die befreit wurden. „Heute spreche ich zu Ihnen als Sprecher eines Parlaments einer Nation von Einwanderern. Fast ein Drittel der Knesset -Abgeordneten wurde im Ausland geboren“, sagte der „Likud“-Politiker laut der Onlinezeitung „Times of Israel“….

Bibel ohne Israel nicht zu verstehen
Im baden-württembergischen Schwäbisch Gmünd ist am Sonntag der Israel-Kongress „Segen und Versöhnung“ zu Ende gegangen. Der Pfarrer Ulrich Parzany erklärte im Abschlussgottesdienst: „Nichts im Neuen Testament ist zu verstehen ohne den Bund, den Gott im Alten Testament mit Israel geschlossen hat.“ Es sei bis heute eine Pest unter Christen, dass sie die Bibel wie ein Poesiealbum läsen und sich dabei jene Verse aussuchten, die sie persönlich ermutigend finden. „ Sie suchen Bestätigung in einer unsicheren Welt, verstehen aber nicht den Zusammenhang mit der der Geschichte Gottes.“….

ICC report says action against Israel wont be taken in the near future
A report by the International Criminal Court Prosecution explaining its methodology for prioritizing which cases to push forward with the fastest indicates that it is unlikely to take action against Israel in the near future, but that settlements as war crimes may eventually be center-stage. Since January 2015, ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has been preliminarily examining Israel and “Palestine” for alleged war crimes violations relating to the 2014 Gaza war. The report issued by the ICC Prosecutor’s Office at the end of last week, but not previously reported on in Israel, does not mention Israel or the Palestinians specifically….

In a video of the prayer posted online and translated by MEMRI Ayed is seen saying, „Oh America, let me tell you about the day when the call to prayer will be heard from atop the White House, from atop the red palace in the Kremlin in Moscow,“ adding that „we shall shout Allah Akbar from there.“ Ayed, who is dressed in white traditional garb tells his followers that Allah will attack both America and Russia „Because Allah promised us both places, Allah promised the prophet Muhammad that Islam would rule the entire land.“

The Regulations Act would make it acceptable to build on private Palestinian land, MK Bennie Begin warned as he spoke against a push by most Likud politicians to pass legislation retroactively authorizing some 2,000 illegally built settler homes. “It’s not just and it’s not right,” Begin told The Jerusalem Post. “It won’t pass the Knesset. In addition, the former Israel president’s office said that the Pope held „a special prayer for Peres along with Rabbi Abraham Skorka of Argentina. Their declaration is part of an ongoing struggle between the Education Ministry and the leadership of the haredi education sector, and has been intensified in recent days after five girls schools have refused to accept pupils despite instructions to do so from the ministry….

The recent Knesset approval of a law barring the Reform and Masorti movements from using public mikvaot (ritual baths) for conversions; the continuous rejections by the Chief Rabbinate and the religious establishment of the credentials of Orthodox rabbis in the Diaspora; and the ongoing invective that is uttered by haredi ministers, MKs and public officials have all led to significant tensions between Israel’s political leadership and that of North American Jewry….

Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood has faced a harsh crackdown this year. In April, Jordanian security forces shut down the offices of the 70-year-old Islamist movement throughout the country and Amman has orchestrated a relentless delegitimization campaign against the Brotherhood, highlighted by King Abdullah II calling the Islamist movement in 2013 a “masonic cult… run by wolves in sheep’s clothing”. Abu Jamal, a leader of a trrorist faction in the Gaza Strip, warned American citizens against coming to the coastal enclave on Saturday, days after the US designated former Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hammad as an international terrorist. “We warn American citizens against entering Gaza because they are unwelcome after the decision [against Hammad] was made,” said Abu Jamal, leader of the al-Nasser Saladin Brigade, in a video published on social media….

Two Israel Police Officers Wounded, One Seriously, in Jerusalem Stabbing Attack
Two police officers were wounded, one seriously and one moderately, in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City early Monday. The alleged assailant was subdued, according to police.
A 38-year-old female police officer was taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center in very serious condition after being stabbed in the neck. She is currently being sedated and on a respirator A 45-year-old male officer, moderately wounded after being stabbed in the upper body, was taken to Jerusalem’s Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem….

Taxi Fares in Israel to Drop Nearly 11 Percent Six Months Too Late
A full six months after an inter-ministerial committee approved the measure, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz over the weekend signed off on a 10.9 percent cut in taxi fares. The reduction will probably go into force at the beginning of October, but no final date has been released and the reduction still requires the approval of Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon. The base fare will then go down to 10.90 shekels ($2.89), down from the 12.30-shekel rate it has been for the past three years….

Saudi Arabia accused Iran of supplying weapons to Shi’ite rebels in Yemen and urged the UN Security Council to impose sanctions on Tehran for violating an arms embargo. Saudi Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi said in a letter to the council obtained late Saturday by The Associated Press that the smuggling of arms to Houthi rebels violates council resolutions and constitutes „a direct and tangible threat“ to Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the region and international peace. Sunni-majority Saudi Arabia and Shi’ite-majority Iran are regional rivals and back opposing sides in Yemen and Syria….

A Turkish man who allegedly kicked and injured a young woman for wearing shorts on an Istanbul bus has been released from custody, local media reported on Sunday. Police detained Abdullah Çakıroğlu on Saturday in Uskudar, a district on the Asian side of the city, the private Dogan news agency reported. Attentat mit Brandsätzen und Messer geplant
Israelische Sicherheitskräfte haben am Sonntag in der Nähe von Jericho einen Palästinenser verhaftet, der zwei Molotow-Cocktails, ein Messer und eine kleine palästinensische Flagge dabei hatte. Die Polizei geht davon aus, dass er einen Anschlag auf einen Posten der Grenzpolizei in dieser Gegend verüben wollte. Der mutmaßliche Terrorist ist nach israelischen Medienberichten zwölf Jahre alt. Die israelische Regierung beklagt schon seit Monaten, dass junge Palästinenser über die sozialen Medien aufgefordert werden, Juden zu hassen und sich gegen die „Besatzungsarmee“ zu wehren. Seit Freitag kam es in Jerusalem und im Raum Hebron zu sechs Terrorangriffen….(Die PA hat natürlich mit diesen Kindern absolut nichts zu tun!! WD)
