There's often a trade-off between what a child likes and what is healthy; pastrama, or sliced turkey breast, can be a good compromise. But there are several things to watch out for.

The start of a new school year confronts parents with the familiar problem of what to put in sandwiches for the kids at school. Ideally the sandwich should be yummy, but one would like it to be healthy and nutritious, too.
"If they choose the right bread and sandwich spread, it can be a nutritious meal," said Michal Sukman, a dietitian with Maccabi health maintenance organization. "The spread is the most important part, and [parents] should make sure it has nutritional value. The choice involves a kind of trade-off between what is healthy and what the child likes to eat."…
