Palestinians repeat call for UN action on Israeli strikes

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting late on Wednesday to discuss Israel's strikes against Gaza, but took no action, as Israel threatened a wider offensive in the Palestinian enclave to stem rocket salvoes by Hamas militants.
