Six years on, blind Be'er Sheva octogenarian still waiting for suitable public housing

80-year-old Memo Beinah goes down four flights of stairs every day from his public-housing Amidar apartment in Be'er Sheva with the help of his wife or children.

To go outside, Memo Beinah, who is just shy of his 81st birthday and is severely visually-impaired, goes down four flights of stairs every day from his public-housing Amidar apartment in Be'er Sheva. For six years Beinah and his family have been writing the authorities to ask that he be moved to another apartment, with an elevator or on the ground floor.
Their request is in keeping with his eligibility for public housing and his deteriorating health. Beinah's municipal social social worker says the current situation, where he has to depend on his children or his wife to help him leave the house, is unreasonable….
