Boarding schools are not only for disadvantaged youth. A small number of prestigious and costly ones cater to top-notch students from all over the country.

When Orit Rosenblum Mel first entered the boarding school room designated for her daughter, Korel, she burst into tears. "There were some beds, a shower, a public bathroom. Suddenly, I understood what this was about. We were separating. This was very hard."
Korel Mel, 17, from Eilat, arrived at the Boyer boarding school in Jerusalem three years ago. Like most young people who come to the school, she was brimming with a desire to learn. Korel's motivation exceeded that of her parents, a mathematics teacher and a contractor, who had doubts about her leaving the nest….
