LIBANON BESIEGT DEN „DAESH(I)“: (mit Videos)

SENIOR NATIONAL-RELIGIOUS RABBIS DECLARE OPPOSITION TO CIVIL MARRIAGE

Several senior national-religious rabbis, including rabbis Haim Druckman, Yaakov Ariel and Aryeh Stern, have joined a public declaration opposing civil marriage in Israel, arguing that it would divide the Jewish people. The campaign, organized by the Chotam organization, follows a similar public statement issued by several rabbis from the liberal wing of the national-religious sector who called for some form of civil marriage or civil union to rectify the current situation, in which large numbers of Israelis cannot marry in Israel because they are ineligible to do so in the Chief Rabbinate….(Sie spalten Israel!! DAESH(I)‘ ‚STRANDED‘ CONVOY REVEALS BIZARRE REALITY OF SYRIAN CONFLICT

It is like a scene out of a bad movie, a vacation gone wrong in the Syrian desert. Islamic State fighters who were evacuated from the Lebanese border, smiling and laughing in the photos of them on August 27, are now stuck in eastern Syria. US-led coalition air strikes have churned up a road, preventing further progress toward the Iraqi border, and bombed vehicles sent to aid the convoy. The story is a microcosm of the bizarre aspects of modern war in the Middle East, where conflict often doesn’t look like conventional warfare….

BUNDESTAGSWAHL 2017:

PALESTINIAN TERROR GROUP LASHES OUT AT ‚POST‘ EXPOSÉS, ISRAELI PARTIES

The US- and EU-designated Palestinian terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) issued an angry, rambling statement on Saturday denouncing Israeli media, Knesset members, and German members of parliament for urging Chancellor Angela Merkel’s administration to outlaw PFLP and Hezbollah in the federal republic. The PFLP’s response appears to be in connection with a series of late August Jerusalem Post articles on the organization joining forces with the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany (MLPD) in a campaign to secure entry into the Bundestag for the September 24 federal election. The PFLP statement referenced Israeli media in its statement on its website, saying the Israeli press is  „working overtime in an attempt to spread falsehoods and fear on an international level“ about the PFLP….

ANALYSE:

IF AG INDICTS SARA NETANYAHU, WILL HE CUT BIBI SOME SLACK?

If Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit decides to indict Sara Netanyahu in the coming weeks, as is expected, it is likely that this would alter the balance in deciding whether to indict her husband – giving Mandelblit far more leeway to grant Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a pass. Until now, there has been debate within both the police and the prosecution whether any of the corruption charges against the prime minister were enough to indict….

ELECTRICAL LINES THAT SUPPLY POWER TO GAZA FROM EGYPT PARTIALLY RESTORED

Electrical lines that supply power to the Gaza Strip from Egypt were partially restored over the weekend, Gaza Electricity Distribution Company spokesman Muhammad Thabet said on Sunday, after they were out of service for two months. “This led to an improvement in the arrival of electricity,” the Hamas-run Energy Authority in Gaza said late Saturday night….

LEKTIONEN FÜR GUTERRES:

AN ISRAELI REALITY CHECK FOR THE UN

Last week’s maiden visit by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres afforded the leader of the world body an encounter with the reality on the ground in the Holy Land that we hope will find expression in a fairer treatment of Israel. This is a tall order considering reality’s shaky ground. The secretary-general observed the Palestinian Authority in the midst of President Mahmoud Abbas’s accelerating campaign against Hamas, leading Fatah in a second try at winning the hearts and minds of his beleaguered people. Guterres correctly noted that the Palestinians need to unify if they hope to achieve a state….

KNESSET MEMBERS OUTRAGED AT UN FUNDING LEGAL AID FOR TERRORISTS

Coalition lawmakers called for the UN to stop giving funds to NGOs that give legal aid to terrorists, this week. The remarks followed a letter by bereaved families to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, reported by The Jerusalem Post, in which the families demanded that the UN stop funding Hamoked: Center for the Defense of the Individual and Arab legal aid organization Adalah. The families‘ letter is based on a study by right-wing organization Im Tirzu, based on Justice Ministry documentation, finding that the UN gave about NIS 11 million to organizations that Im Tirzu considers to be delegitimizing Israel in 2012-2017, including NIS 1,921,640 to Hamoked and Adalah….

IRAN CRACKS DOWN ON ISLAMIC STATE SUSPECTS AS GROUP INTENSIFIES THREATS

Facing a rising threat of terrorist attacks sponsored by Islamic State, Iran’s government is trying to improve relations with the country’s ethnic and religious minorities that have become a target for recruiting by the militant group. Those populations, concentrated in far-flung provinces, have long been alienated politically and economically from the rest of the country….

The prisoner swap between Hezbollah and ISIS on August 28 that saw the release of over 300 ISIS militants and 8 Hezbollah militants and one Iranian was reportedly sponsored by Iran and Syria. The official deal was halted by an American air strike destroying the roads connecting the bus of ISIS militants to an ISIS controlled territory in Syria….

JEWISH LEADERSHIP, VATICAN DISCUSS COLLABORATION ON COMMON INTERESTS

Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis, has said that the Jewish rabbinic leadership has several common causes with the Catholic Church and the Vatican and that improved relations will help improve collaboration on those issues. The rabbi spoke to The Jerusalem Post after he led a delegation to Pope Francis on Thursday to present a Jewish perspective on Catholic Jewish Relations on the fiftieth anniversary of Nostra Aetate, in which the Catholic Church repudiated the notion of the collective guilt of the Jewish people for Jesus’s death in 1965….

HASS:

ONCE UNITING, TODAY SEEMS READY TO DIVIDE THE JEWS

It was war by other means. Frustrated by their failure to convert them, early Christians set out to deface the Jews and defame their faith. The success of the consequent effort transcended anything its originators could have imagined, inspiring a multipronged attack that eventually harnessed legislatures, kings, armies, literati and mobs while crossing continents, lasting centuries and killing multitudes. Yes, governmental attacks on Jewish citizens have ended, as discussed in Part 2 of this series, but the hatred that fueled them is alive and well ‒ albeit adjusted to changing times. In the words of Jacob Talmon (1916- 1980), the dean of Israeli historians: “The state of the Jews has become the Jew of the states.”….

Gazan girl paralyzed by Israeli airstrike lives and paints in Jerusalem

Maria Aman paints in threes and fours. Three flowers in a vase, four leaves on the ground. Three birds above, four birds below. The sequences are a recurring reference to the airstrike on her family’s car in the Gaza Strip on May 20, 2006, when Maria was four years old, that killed four members of her family — her mother, Naima; grandmother Hanan; older brother Muhannad; and uncle Nahed — but spared her younger brother, Moamen, and her father, Hamdi, and left her in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the neck down….

GESCHICHTE:

When Boston was America’s ‘capital’ of anti-Semitism

You won’t find it mentioned along the city’s “Freedom Trail” route, but Boston was once home to a thriving network of Nazi supporters. Not only did the Cradle of Liberty’s anti-Semitic activists receive funds and direction from Berlin, they also helped incite “small pogroms” against Jews well into the war. During the same years as the Holocaust, “marauding anti-Semitic bands severely restricted the physical movement of many Jews in [Boston and New York], rendering it difficult for them to carry on normal religious, business, or social activities,” wrote Stephen H. Norwood, a history professor at the University of Oklahoma….

Dozens rally for Abera Mengistu after 3 years in Hamas captivity

Dozens gathered in central Tel Aviv on Sunday night to commemorate three years that Israeli civilian Abera Mengistu has been held by the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip. On September 7, 2014, Mengistu crossed into northern Gaza from the beach at Zikim. According to his parents, who spoke at Sunday’s rally, the 28-year-old suffered from a mental illness and didn’t understand what he was doing when he entered the Strip. ANALYSE:

Iranians at the gates

Unless something changes, Israel is sprinting headlong into another violent confrontation along its northern border, this time against either Iranian troops or Iranian backed fighters with missiles made to order from Tehran. The disappearance of the Islamic State from wide swaths of Syria, together with the superpowers’ lack of interest (or desire) in removing Syrian President Bashar Assad from power, are paving the way for an Iranian takeover of the territories until recently held by the jihadist group….
