Attempted US strike on Yemen's Anwar Awlaki fails

After taking out Osama bin Laden, US forces try but fail to remove another major leader of al-Qaida, this time in Yemen.

A United States drone strike on Thursday in Yemen that aimed to kill Yemen's Anwar Awlaki, the reported head of al-Qaida there, failed, it was revealed late Friday.
Awlaki, who was born in the US, is a radical Muslim cleric known for encouraging attacks on US citizens and soil. He is widely believed to be the leader of Yemen's al-Qaida branch….
