Preservationists decry the construction work at Rehovot's Beit Ha'am.
Construction underway at the old Beit Ha'am community center building in the center of Rehovot is causing severe damage to the historic building and endangering its architectural value, say preservation experts and members of the public forum "Our Rehovot."
The work includes the demolition of the building adjacent to Beit Ha'am, which served as the town's first cinema. In its place, a new municipal cultural hall will be built with 750 seats, designed by the architect Nira Reichman. Beit Ha'am itself will be preserved and will be used as the entrance to the new hall….
