Despite big talk on small donors, Yachimovich took NIS 30k from businessman
Labor leader has a long history of saying she shuns big-money donors.
Labor leader Shelly Yachimovich received NIS 30,000 from wealthy businessman David Federman and his family during the party primary in September, even though her website states that she does not take money from "rich friends."
"One should aspire as much as possible to base election campaigns on a large volume of small donations from the public at large, so that politicians and the wealthy are not interdependent, and also to allow every Israeli citizen to take an active role and put his stamp on the election system," she wrote in a press release issued after a September 2009 comptroller's report criticizing the extent to which politicians relied on campaign donations from business moguls….
