Former Maariv owner to pay $6 million for Nigeria mining rights.
After entering the gas exploration market and selling his controlling stake in Maariv this past year, Ofer Nimrodi is now embarking on a new adventure: mineral exploration and mining. The Marker has learned that in the past few months, The Israel Land Development Company, in which Nimrodi holds a controlling stake, set up a subsidiary called Israel Land Development Natural Resources to coordinate exploration and mining activities throughout the world.
Over the weekend, the new company signed its first deal to acquire 90% of the concession rights for tin exploration in Nigeria's Nasawara state. The deal, valued at $6 million, was signed by a granddaughter company, Elinor (named after Nimrodi's daughter ), registered in the Virgin Islands….
