Israel to pay NIS 32 million to remodel Auschwitz museum
In the course of the remodeling, preservation work will be carried out on the 1,000 square meter historic building in which the exhibits are displayed; an entirely new museum display will be developed on the genocide of the Jews.
Israel will provide NIS 32 million for remodeling and preservation of the museum display at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp in Poland. The commitment was announced yesterday by Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar at the cabinet's weekly meeting.
"Transmitting the memory of the Holocaust is a legacy to our people," Sa'ar said, adding: "The memory of the horrors of the Holocaust reinforces the significance of the establishment and existence of the State of Israel, the state of the Jews."…
