Israeli cabinet rejects ambassador appointment in rare decision

Ministers do not approve appointment of ambassador to Kathmandu due to previous disciplinary offenses.

In a surprise move, cabinet members refused Sunday to approve the appointment of Hanan Goder as ambassador to Nepal due to a history of charges pertaining to serious disciplinary offenses. The move came following a screening process by Deputy Foreign Ministry Daniel Ayalon.
Although cabinet members usually serve as a rubber stamp and do not interfere with appointments of this kind, they decided not to approve Goder's appointment at the time….
