Project aimed at making Israeli teachers tech savvy slammed as ineffective

The Institute for Humanistic Leadership says Education Ministry neglects promoting literacy skills, critical and creative thinking, and the encouragement of teamwork.

A flagship Education Ministry project has been criticized by a leadership training firm and some educators, who say too much emphasis has been placed on instructing teachers how to work in a technological environment and not enough on the educational goals being achieved by students.
The ministry began implementing the project – called Adapting the Education System to the 21st Century – last year, involving some thousand schools around the country. The program seeks to improve teachers' instructional skills through the use of technology; it also encourages the use of projectors and personal computers in the classroom. Some students have even been given their own laptop computers….
