Shavuot celebrated with a taste of both old and new

Residents of Moshav Ben Shemen got into the Shavuot holiday spirit Wednesday with celebrations that were both traditional and modern.

As soon as the sign was given, the children stopped splashing each other on the lawn and climbed onto the tractors decorated with flowers and posters. One energetic grandmother whipped out her iPhone to photograph the event – celebrating Shavuot holiday in Moshav Ben Shemen.
Almost the entire community came out to enjoy the warm sun of the late afternoon. Straw mats were unrolled, a sunscreen was put up and members of the local youth movement from the nearby moshavim were rehearsing their parts for the evening's show for the last time….
