Travel agents seek to have consumer laws applied to low-cost carriers

Low-cost carriers without offices in Israel could cause consumers to have difficulty obtaining refunds for tickets purchased online on airlines that later go bankrupt.

The Israel Association of Travel Agents is pressing for local consumer protection laws be enforced with respect to low-cost airlines serving the country. The agents' group said the law is not being applied to protect consumers traveling on these carriers, and it submitted a formal request to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor on the issue last week….
